Single Handed Race Briefing

An OUTSTANDING race on Saturday, May 23rd. We had 13 Single Handed skippers participating in what started out as S L O W event. Then it picked up with a fine finish in good wind. Congrats to our commodore, Jim Carlsen, skippering the newest addition to the racing fleet "Tranquility Base", a Capri 25, into first place, corrected time.

My thanks to Paul Richardson and Dick Freeborn for again jumping in to command the Committee Boat, setting the marks and conducting the race.

Another terrific social and pot luck after the race at the Braito's Tiki Hut.

Gary Jolley, VC

The Konocti Bay Sailing Club is located on the Southwestern shore of Clearlake in Northern California. The club is active year round, and hosts full schedule of events on the water from April through November.

As the largest natural lake in California, Clear Lake provides ample room for sailing, from day cruising and extended racing, to overnight stays at anchorages around the over one hundred miles of shoreline.

The good weather and wind make sailing a popular activity here, and Clear Lake is home to a large number of sailing craft.

New members and guests are always welcome. Click on the "Club Information" or "Contact" buttons to the left for more information.

The Konocti Cup, held in April, is one of the premier events on the Lake, drawing sailors from all over Northern California. Competition is brisk, but everyone always has a fun and exciting day of sailing and looks forward to the awards brunch the next morning at the Richmond Park Bar and Grill on the shore of Konocti Bay.
