Racing Rules Change
The racing rules published by the United States Sailing
Association were modified again in 2001 for the period 2001/2004.
(International code flags 1, 2 and 3 as shown above will
be used to identify a division or class.)
A class flag (above) will be hoisted as a 5-minute warning
for the next class or division to start. If there is only one start (no
class starts), the number 1 flag is usually hoisted to start the 5 minute
countdown.
With 4 minutes remaining the "P" flag will
be hoisted.
With 1 minute remaining the "P" flag will be
dropped.
With 0 minutes remaining the class flag will be dropped
signifying the Class or Division start.
The hoisting and lowering of all these flags will be
accompanied by a sound signal, (horn or gun).
